2021 March Notes

Hot topics from the HOA Board for March 2021

Several issues of interest to the community were discussed at the most recent board meeting and are included in this month’s “Hot Topics” from your BOD.

HOA Annual Dues Reminder

Invoices were sent out in January for the annual $1500 HOA dues for 2021 and the majority of lot owners have paid. After March 1st there will be an 8% interest charge added to the invoice, which comes to $10 per month. Reminders will be going out to lot owners who have not yet paid.

Post and Chain Removal

The post and chain on the common roadway below the mailboxes will be removed. It was installed to ensure access to construction vehicles for Lot #14, but is no longer needed for that purpose and removing it will avoid creating the erroneous impression that the roadway is a private driveway.

It’s STILL Annual Bush Hogging Time!

Winter is the optimal time to perform annual weed cut back (bush hogging) which is required of certain lot owners. While several affected lot owners are arranging to have the work done, there are still a few lots that need to be scheduled. The HOA will be communicating with those Lot Owners (primarily undeveloped Meadow Lots) in the coming days. The Board has pushed out the deadline for Bush Hogging to March 15th. If Lots remain unmowed after that date, the HOA will contract to have the work done and charge Lot Owners the cost of bush hogging. Additional fees may apply.

While individual lot owners can make their own arrangements, the HOA Trails & Landscapes Committee has identified two local resources who are available:

Dover Dillingham 828-298-2331.
Wayne Pressley at WNC Tractor Werx 828-545-8103

Upcoming Board of Directors Meeting

Monday, April 5th, 11:30-1:00, 28 Hawberry Court. As a reminder, meetings are scheduled for the first Monday of the month subject to change based on availability of our volunteer Board members. Out of respect for the work schedules of our volunteer Board members, we limit our meetings to 1 ½ hours with a hard stop at 1 P.M. Any HOA members who want to attend should check with the Board to confirm the schedule: board@sovereignoakshoa.com.

SOVEREIGN OAKS WEBSITES TO BE REVISED

Amanda Galvin and Rebekah Owings are taking on the task of revising the Sovereign Oaks public-facing website (sovereingoaks.com) and the HOA website (sovereignoakshoa.com). The goal for the public-facing website is to have it be more informative about the community in general. The goal of the HOA website redesign is to institute an initial login request that ensures only HOA members can gain access, but also make the login process easier than the two-step process that currently exists. The site will also be redesigned to be easier for HOA members to navigate and find information.

Accessing the Sovereign Oaks Website

Watch for future “Sovereign Oaks Notes” which will be posted on the Sovereign Oaks website approximately once a month as we endeavor to keep email traffic to a minimum. In addition to these monthly notes, the SO website https://sovereignoakshoa.com contains lots of useful information for residents. For those HOA members who have not logged on before, you can use the gateway password “sovereignoaksHOA” for your first log in then set your own username and password.
