HOA BOARD

Reminder from the HOA Board:

We were pleased that the most recent HOA Board meeting had four members of the HOA Community in attendance – a record! Having said that, in order for the board to remain productive, we request that if any member of the community wants to attend Board meetings, let the Board know ahead of time as a courtesy, both so we can structure the Board agenda to accommodate non-Board members who wish to address the Board and also to ensure there is adequate seating for observers.

Your Sovereign Oaks HOA Board of Directors is committed to openness and transparency and recognizes that every HOA member has a right to attend and participate in monthly Board meetings. We, in fact, welcome participation as an important part of building and maintaining a strong community that seeks input and diverse points of view. In that spirit, at its next meeting the Board will be discussing more formal guidelines for participation. This next meeting is scheduled for Monday April 4th at 7 p.m. and the Board will communicate that process to the HOA membership following the meeting.

In the meantime, any HOA member who wishes to attend is welcome. Please reach out to the board at board@sovereignoakshoa.com. If you wish to be included on the agenda to address the board, please indicate that as well.

Reminder of S.O. Community Policy:

Regarding contract work on a person’s property–Policy requires the contractor to park on the property they are working on, not the neighbor’s property or across the street on an empty lot. As the neighborhood is built out, there is less room for everyone to drive or park. This policy is common sense as well as common courtesy.

COMMITTEES

Pavillion Update:

The concrete forming was started on 15 March, but the rain on the night of the 15th as well as the 16th have delayed further work until things dry out a bit. After the concrete is installed and has time to cure, the pavilion structure should go up in about a month. At that point, we will need our woodworking experts to dress up the structure. Concrete cost is less than $11k, structure is another $24k. Any questions, feel free to ask Mike Newton, 50 Trail Top Dr.

Social Committee Update:

Thanks to all who joined us for our St. Patrick’s Day celebration! It was lovely to share treats, music and company by the bamboo forest last weekend!

Guided Community Hike with Dave Ellum at Warren Wilson College- 10:00am, April 16. This will be an approximately two hour hike up and over Broyles Ridge. There will be some elevation gain, but not strenuous, with some poison ivy along the sides of the trails. We’ll talk forest ecology, natural history, forest management and of course identify any wildflowers that are up. The hike will end at the shiitake mushroom operation and then take in the beautiful view from Dogwood Pasture. Please park and meet at the Warren Wilson Chapel. Masks are optional.

-Save the Date! June 25 Food Truck! Gypsy Queen from 5-7:30

FROM NEIGHBORS

 From John Tremlett’s son, Mark:
  • My father, John, would like to express his gratitude for such a nice welcome to the neighborhood by hosting an open house. This will be a social event, and we will have charcuterie style food, wine and beer. All neighbors are welcome. Saturday April 2, 4-6 PM, 54 Trail Top Drive. RSVP using THIS FORM by end of the day Thursday, March 31.

Accessing the Sovereign Oaks Website

The SO website https://sovereignoakshoa.com contains lots of useful information for residents. For those HOA members who have not logged on before, you can use the gateway password “sovereignoaksHOA” for your first log in then set your own username and password. Please note, a site administrator has to approve the new login, so there may be a delay in activation.
Current users, please remember that you may have to enter the gateway password in the future if it has been a while since your last visit.

SOVEREIGN OAKS WEBSITES TO BE REVISED

Amanda Galvin and Rebekah Owings are taking on the task of revising the Sovereign Oaks public-facing website (sovereingoaks.com) and the HOA website (sovereignoakshoa.com). The goal for the public-facing website is to have it be more informative about the community in general. The goal of the HOA website redesign is to institute an initial login request that ensures only HOA members can gain access, but also make the login process easier than the two-step process that currently exists. The site will also be redesigned to be easier for HOA members to navigate and find information.

We appreciate your patience!
