Hot Topics from the Board:

  • Save the Date – Annual HOA Meeting and Honey Distribution Thursday, September 28th, 5:30 pm Registration/6:00 Meeting at Riceville Fire Station See email for additional details.
  • Who is Calling? When using text to contact Mike Newton, or any DRC member, regarding downed trees and other matters, please be sure to identify yourself in the message. This will be very helpful and greatly appreciated.

  • September 16- Maker’s Fair 2-5 pm and food truck 5-7 p.m. –Click here for more details!
  • October 28 – Chili Cook-Off and Pumpkin Carving Contest – (Pumpkins should be pre-carved before party) We need a host. Please contact sallyklippel@gmail.com if interested in hosting.
  • October 31 – Trick or Treat along Wandering Oaks – 5:30-6:30 pm
  • December 16 – Cookie Exchange – host to be determined. Please contact sallyklippel@gmail.com if interested in hosting.

OTHER NEIGHBORHOOD NOTES

Center for Working Lands Showcase Event

Save the date for this family-friendly event on Saturday, September 30 from 10 am – 12 pm on the College’s Farm and Garden, featuring interactive activities and tours from our land and craft crews! The Garden Crew will press fresh cider and offer a marigold-dye activity. We will have demonstrations from the Blacksmithing, Fiber Arts, and Fine Woodworking Crews. There will be doughnuts, WWC meat, and limited other WWC items available for sale.

FARM-TO-FORK PICNIC & TOUR OF CENTER FOR WORKING LANDS

Saturday, October 7, 2023 @ 10:00 am – 1:30 pm  $85.00
Enjoy a festive farm-to-fork picnic lunch with a roasted pig and fresh produce from the gardens at Warren Wilson College located in the beautiful Swannanoa Valley. The picnic caps a fascinating walking tour of the Center for Working Lands, an historic and innovative agriculture and forestry program teaching and researching sustainable land practices on the cutting-edge of the industry.
