REMINDER! HOA Annual Meeting Slated for Thursday September 23rd
The Annual Meeting will be held at the Riceville Fire House, 2251 Riceville Rd., on Thursday September 23rd.
Sign-in starts at 6PM and the meeting will begin at 6:30PM.
Here are some details:
- We currently have the outdoor pavilion reserved as the Fire Department is not allowing indoor gatherings. That may change by September, but the HOA should be prepared to hold the meeting outdoors, as we did last year, if need be.
- While we will provide a ZOOM link for out-of-town Lot Owners to view and listen in, voting will only be either in-person or by proxy, so plan ahead.
- The proposed 2022 HOA Budget which will be voted on at the meeting will be sent out in late August along with more details on the meeting.
- Three Board terms are expiring this year. Voting for Board positions will be by written ballot, with nominations submitted prior to the meeting. Nominations from the floor will also be allowed during the meeting. Board meetings are held once a month.
- HOA members interested in running for a Board seat, or wanting more information, should get in touch with any current Board member or write to the board at board@sovereignoakshoa.com.
Watch for more information.

Mulch or Mow That Strip!
As mentioned last month, all Sovereign Oaks Lot Owners are responsible for mowing or mulching the strip of road frontage adjacent to their property. This includes both lots with finished homes and lots under construction once ground has been broken. The HOA landscape contractor mows the frontage of lots not yet under construction. Knock down those weeds!
COMMUNITY INTEREST
Have a Seat in New Adirondack Chairs! Meet Your Neighbors
The Greenhouse Committee has acquired six locally made Adirondack Chairs for neighborhood get-togethers around the Greenhouse. They need to be stained before they can go out into the weather. The Committee is looking for VOLUNTEERS to help with this project and other work to make and keep the Greenhouse an attractive amenity. For more information, contact Kirsten Kern: kmkern9@gmail.com
Trails in Sovereign Oaks Opened Up!
Art Mandler and Sarah Tambor have cleared a new trail for community use on the south side of Lot 11 between Wandering Oaks Way and the greenhouse road. Signs marking the trail will be up shortly. Take a walk and enjoy the wildflowers. Thanks Art & Sarah!
Julie Brown braved mosquitos, brambles and bears to clear out weeds and open up the top of Musterfield Creek Trail where it joins Wandering Oaks Way. Thanks to Julie!
Rescheduled Again – Paving at Front Entrance Now Slated for the Fall
The rainy weather continued to delay road repair and repaving throughout the Asheville area. As a result, Pisgah Paving has had to reschedule the repaving for Sovereign Oaks entrance road to the Fall, as it catches up on larger projects. Watch for more details once a date has been scheduled.
